Effective and Entertaining Parent/Child Communication Workshops… Based on the renowned book ‘How To Talk So Kids Will Listen, And Listen So Kids Will Talk'. Isn't all communication healthy??? Unfortunately not! Some language we commonly use with our children can actually damage their self esteem and confidence. This is never the intention of a loving parent, but despite our good intentions we were not given a guide book on how to raise children! Paternal love does not necessarily equal effective parenting. Every other occupation, from driving a truck to performing surgery, requires months or years of training. Only for the job of raising children do we expect that love will be enough. But, sometimes it isn't. Parents also need skills . Most parents underestimate the power of their words. A positive word can empower just as a negative word can be destructive. And it is our job to make them feel secure in this world. There is a direct connection between how kids feel and how they behave. When kids feel right, they'll behave right. In these workshops, discover proven techniques which: > help children deal with their feelings, limit unacceptable behaviour whilst maintaining goodwill > engage cooperation without relying on threats, name calling, lecturing etc >give alternatives to punishment, so they assume responsibilty for their own behaviour > encourage autonomy, so they grow into responsible adults > differentiate between praise that builds a positive image and praise which does not > frees children from playing roles, so children can see themselves in a more positive light
